Star Wars used to have a complicated canon hierarchy, but we’re not going to get into that here.
All you need to know now is that Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2014 and a simple, new canon was officially established.
Everything published after April 24, 2014 is considered canon.
Everything published before isn’t.
