Sonic the Hedgehog’s long-running comic book series is coming to an end.
Sega of America announced today, via the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account, that it’s ending its partnership with comics publisher Archie Comics after 24 years and hundreds of issues.
Why were the Sonic comics Cancelled?
Sega announced last week on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account it was ending its decades-long relationship with Archie in favor of a “different direction.” The cancellation was quickly followed up with an announcement at San Diego Comiccon that IDW would be taking over the comic license in 2018.

Did they cancel sonic boom?
During a panel at the Sonic Revolution convention, the original Sonic Boom creative team have confirmed that they are no longer working on the show. While not a confirmation of the show’s cancellation, this can’t be good sign for the show’s future.
