Is Archie Sonic canon?
Sega never said Archie was canon over the games. Sega and Sonic Team created Sonic a a video game character. He is not a comic book created by Archie who DiC originally created Satam which Archie used. No cartoon is canon either.
Why were the Sonic comics Cancelled?
Sega announced last week on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account it was ending its decades-long relationship with Archie in favor of a “different direction.” The cancellation was quickly followed up with an announcement at San Diego Comiccon that IDW would be taking over the comic license in 2018.
